Why Kate Middleton Broke the Dress Code on her Visit to The V&A

The Princess of Wales cut an extremely stylish figure as she visited the new V&A East Storehouse in London yesterday – however one aspect of her outfit appeared to break the dress code.

Kate, 43, marched for her first engagement of the month – and her first considering that returning from the half-term break – in a chic trouser fit by designer Alexander McQueen for the occasion, along with a white scoop-neck top.

For her accessories, the princess chose an elegant belt, Laura Lombardi chain locket, and a set of sleek black heels from Prada.

But while Kate looked incredibly sophisticated, technically speaking, she did break a little-known design guideline throughout her go to with her choice of shoes.

‘We suggest wearing useful clothes and flat shoes,’ the V&A East Storehouse’s website checks out. ‘The metal grid floor covering is not ideal for stilettos or kitten heels.’

However, the princess appeared entirely at ease and masterfully managed the irregular floors, even while wearing a pair of tough heels.

When inquired about Kate’s choice of footwear, Tristram Hunt, the director of the V&A, informed PEOPLE publication: ‘She is a pro! She dealt with that!’

He included: ‘She had a very energy. She was extremely energetic and focused. We last saw her about two years back.

‘She retains this terrific enthusiasm and interest in creativity and making and design. It was fantastic to be able to host her.’

The mother-of-three has actually repeatedly made wearing heels look simple for many years – even while playing sports, using pumps on turf and attending horse racing events such as Royal Ascot.

In 2012, Kate even wore heels to play a video game of hockey and, more recently in 2022, kicked a football in heels during an engagement with her other half Prince William.

She even used her beloved shoe in her first images with Prince Louis in 2018 as she stepped outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital.

Depsite misgivings, the princess was such a ‘pro’ in her heels that she was able to handle any obstacles with ease
